On Pleasure

Pleasure is a freedom-song,

But it is not freedom.

It is the blossoming of your desires,

But it is not their fruit.

It is a depth calling unto a height,

But it is not the deep nor the high.

It is the caged taking wing,

But it is not space encompassed.

Ay, in very truth, pleasure is a freedom-song.

And I fain would have you sing it with fullness of heart;

Yet I would not have you lose your hearts in the singing.

- Kahlil Gibran

A Door Opens

A door opens in the center of our being,

and we seem to fall through it into immense depths,

which although they are infinite, are still accessible to us.

All eternity seems to have become ours in this one placid and breathless contact.

- Thomas Merton

Dare to Risk

To love is to risk not being loved in return.

To try is to risk failure.

To hope is to risk despair.

To give is to risk receiving.

To live is to risk death.

But the greatest risk of all is to risk nothing.

For the person who risks nothing, is nothing and has nothing.

Only a person who risks is truly free.

Today's Centering Thought

When I look in the mirror, who do I really see? My own true reflection or projections of my fears and worries? In this moment I will hold the possibility that I am just as nature had created me, long before I started to see myself through the lenses of the world. In this moment I will gently look at myself with a loving heart felt gaze, honouring the person I truly am, without all the masks and identifications.

Choose words that resonate and speak more deeply to you. Today's mantra: I love and see myself with compassion and kindness.
